SCHERDELnews Edition 1/15 english - page 1

Dear Reader,
The continuing internationalisa-
tion of our Group has led to a re-
cruitment drive for young man-
agers at our overseas locations.
At SCHERDEL, we make sure the
aims and values of a medium-
sized company expressed in our
mission statement are really put
into practice. Our leaders are,
therefore, people with sufficient
practical experience who have
“grown up in the family”. Making
the most of the multiple synergies
within the Group for the benefit of
our customers requires a high lev-
el of willingness to take on respon-
sibility at our locations and a flexi-
ble approach to bring all the tech-
nical skills in our Group together.
SCHERDEL’s goal must always
be to maximise the benefits for our
clients. Our relentless pursuit of
technology leadership is reflected
not only in the expansion of pro-
duction processes at our plants,
but also in the willingness to ad-
dress the issue of cleanliness at
the manufacturing locations. Cre-
ativity and innovation were, and
still are, the driving forces behind
our growth and the foundation for
our success; for which, on behalf
of our staff, we wish to express
our gratitude to all our customers.
Now that the fourth generation of
the family has taken over the helm
and the company is in safe hands
for the future, we can proudly cele-
brate our 125th anniversary.

Clean room technology
SCHERDEL continues to invest in product
cleanliness
A
s a result of the ever-increasing
intricacy of assemblies, micro-met-
ric dirt particles that circulate when pro-
ducing individual parts are not simply
unwanted concomitants, they may also
have an adverse effect on the function-
al properties of key components if they
combine and accumulate. This not only
refers to products for the automotive in-
dustry. High quality clean room facilities
have also become the norm in the elec-
tronics industry, for instance for the
production of semi-conductors. A per-
fect example of a sector where cleanli-
ness is vitally important is medical en-
gineering. At the end of the day peo-
ple’s lives and health depend, in partic-
ular, on reliable and fully working tech-
nology, which should be additionally
free of bacteria or any other organic
contamination. Clean room technology
for the production of components is al-
so applied in optical and laser technol-
ogy, in the aerospace industry and
when using nanotechnologies.
Buoyed by its initial success in the
production of medical products, the
SCHERDELGroup established some
time ago strategies and plans for ac-
quiring clean production rooms and
has, in the meantime, brought a num-
ber of these ideas to fruition. At its
French production facility, for example,
an ISO 14644 class 7 clean room is
about to be commissioned, and clean
rooms will soon be an integral part of
procedures for manufacturing stamp-
ings and shaped components at the
German plant in Waldershof. Further-
more, all the production facilities world-
wide are currently assessing the need
for clean rooms based on the present
scale and scope of projects. Needless
to say, SCHERDEL is also investing in
a number of individual targeted mea-
sures to enhance cleanliness. Read our
article on production restructuring at
SCHERDEL’s Czech plant in Bor in this
edition of SCHERDELnews to discover
more about one of these measures.
