After the decision was made in 2009
to set up a production bay for valve
springs and other types of compression
spring, work started on building the fac-
tory extension in the same year. In the
meantime, modern machines for the
production of compression springs sub-
jected to a high level of dynamic stress
have been installed in the new bay so
that series production has been possi-
ble since July 2010.
The new extension for the manufac-
ture of valve springs provides a produc-
tion area of well over 2,000 m² and thus
offers sufficient space for the setting up
of additional valve spring production
lines. The product portfolio is currently
being increased still further.
Thanks to experienced application
technology engineers, the location in
Anqing can deal with the Chinese mar-
ket on its own and, in addition, it can
call on the complete know-how of the
SCHERDEL
Group
if required. This
means that all the usual European de-
velopment services are also available in
China. It is guaranteed that all the cus-
tomers in the Chinese market can
count on products with the European
standard of quality and on
SCHERDEL's corresponding reliability.

SCHERDEL Academy
ensures transfer of
knowledge
In order to carry out the pro-
duction of valve springs with
the same standard of quality
as in Europe, the staff in-
volved at the Anqing factory
received comprehensive in-
struction and training in Ger-
many.
In a three-month in-service
training course at the main
valve-spring factory in Leu-
tendorf, the Chinese col-
leagues got to know all the
aspects of valve-spring man-
ufacture. This involved not
only the latest basic knowl-
edge but also specific details
relating to the use of the
product.
At the SCHERDEL Acade-
my, which was founded for
the purpose of transferring
knowledge, they also attend-
ed courses on the subject of
materials, spring dimension-
ing and processes for manu-
facturing valve springs. To
round off their training pro-
gramme, the Chinese staff
learned about the latest
trends in engine construction
and the complex require-
ments for the valve spring
which these involve.
SCHERDEL regards a com-
prehensive transfer of knowl-
edge as the basis for a thor-
ough understanding of the
application of its products.
Only when the staff under-
stand all the demands which
are made on the product, is it
possible to find an optimum
solution for the customer.
Here, the linking of training in
the local factory with addition-
al measures provided by the
SCHERDEL Academy is par-
ticularly important.
